Re: Image orientation on opening
Yes, but I am automation with ACP/Maxim. I have been doing photometric processing Mira, but have been also using features of Prism too. We use N up as I work with others and use large, 14,000, image reference library all with N up. I am so used to this orientation, I would not want to change. I can ...

Re: Fits orientation
I use Mira for photometry. It has a click box to up flip the image. This step does not plate solution as the image only has to be flipped. The images is an array of pixels and a program can read them in any order. Don't think of this request as orientating an image as changing how the pixel array is...

Re: Fix Star Blooming
I tried this feature. On the first pass, it get the same type of result as show in the help file. If I save the file and reopen it, and try to remove the remain piece of the bloom, the process hangs. the image cannot be closed. Attempts to close only mimizes the image. Shutting Prism and reopening b...

Is there a way to set Prism to open images N up and E left. I don't want to open and flip, but have the default changed. I did not see this in settings.

Cannot update
Hi Hamza I installed Prism 10.2.28.215 which came with my purchase on a new computer at my ME observatory. I am trying to update and get the error listed in the attachment. The internet is working and can update other programs I run, but not this. I have tried turning of the firewall on the computer...

Hamza, I tried a few more times. The laptop error is "FTP error: connection refused" when about to download Prism64.exe. The laptop is wire connected. The desktop error is Fatal error: Size (2231808/0) of file (C:\user\dpost\Documents\Prism\updates_files\update.exe) is invalid. update process has be...

Hamza, When trying to update to the latest version 10.3.49, I get a error during download on both my laptop and my desk computer. both errors reports vanish before I get all the details, but both are ftp errors on large files with a message that the files sizes do not match. Re: Suggest New Tutorial Topics
Hi Hamza, I think getting complete documentation is taking too long. Why don't you link us to the French website? Google translate is really doing a good job. Since French and English speakers use a spectroscopy Yahoo group, I translate the French and it is working well. YOu are about to come out wi...

Image orientation on opening
Hi Hamza, I save all my images N up and E left. In Prism an image opens N down. Is there a setting to allow the image to be opened N up? I know the professionals are normal displaying their images N down, but I have been working N up and have Terabytes of image I work with N up so not easy to change...

Re: Suggest New Tutorial Topics
Hi Hamza, I think you could accelerate the use of Prism for spectroscopy in the US by asking Olivier Thizy, olivier.thizy@yahoo.fr, to write a tutorial. You may know that he is using Prism for spectroscopy and has written software to automate data acquisition using Prism. Perhaps you could pay him t...

GAIA DR2 astrometry
From working in Pro-Am collaborations, I was told that the Astrometry in UCAC4 and other older catalogs has built in bias which causes error up to 0.5' and the professionals now wish to have astrometry with DR2 as a reference. Currently, the only way I have of doing this is with Astrometrica. Howeve...

Re: Suggest New Tutorial Topics
Hi, I would like to see spectroscopy also. One of the advantages of Prism is the ability to run 3 camera. With an Astrometric Instruments Hydra one can run a port for spectroscopy and one for imaging. 2 channels can be used in spectroscopy for guiding and spectra and the 3rd for imaging. One topic w...

Cyril, I thought I posted to say thanks for updating the photometry processing but did not see it so I wanted to be sure to say I appreciate the response. It works great and is a joy to use. Cyril, The screenshot was already posted on Sat Oct 21, 2017 2:40 pm. I look forward to the photometry fix as well as a description of how the photometry is done. It there a description of how Prism "measure star" photometry is done? Is this ensemble photometry? How many stars are used?
After setting the aperture, how does Prism set the gap and annulus?

Cyril, I just bought a second copy of Advance, so a big investment in the belief that there will be continuous improvement and bugs will be fixed, but I am losing faith. With all the corrections going regularly, you have yet to correct the bugs I've pointed out above and they are not a major fix. 1....

Cyril,
Yes, that is correct. Can you ignore those with 20.000 (0.99)? Not ignoring them will make a small error, but it would be better if you could avoid including them.
Thanks, Dick

Re: Photometry
Cyril, Regarding using the APASS data for photometry, if the current photometry could select APASS V instead instead of Fit model mag, this would make V filter images calibrate accurately. This might be easy and would make you photometry accurate at least for V filters. One thing to note. All APASS ...

Re: Photometry
Hamza, As it turns out, I had set the path to my copies of these catalogs when I set up Prism for the first time a year ago and forgot the setup process. I missed when I was searching today. That also explain why the name used to identify the reference stars is that of the UCAC4 catalog, but unfortu...

Another question. When in photometry if one selects Photometry/Automatic Calibration and from the GUI selects from the dropdown list, UCAC2/3/4. 1. Which catalog is it UCAC2, 3, or 4? It should only be UCAC4 as the other catalogs are obsolete. 2. Where are the catalogs located located on the compute...

For example, I take photometric measurements of supernovas in B, V, g', r' and i'. These are the APASS filters so I can use APASS standard stars to do photometry on the image set, typically 100 images in each color. I want to get the SN magnitude in each color for the image set and then plot the lig...

In using photometry, once the data is in the popup on the screen, one can select copy. If I paste the saved data in an editor, I note that copy only contains the data up to S/N.
