Re: First night as license holder and just error after error

Clear skies here tonight ( April/20/2019) I'm going to go back out and give it another round tonight. If there's anyone who can help me out I'm in Central Time USA and I'd be willing to do a screen sharing type of internet meeting / call ( Zoom meeting or similar) I'll be checking this forum periodi...

Re: First night as license holder and just error after error

So I did a lot of searching and ended up on the french language forums using google translate. There was a user over there who was getting a bunch of strange error's also and I noticed that he mentioned switching from the ZWO native drivers to the ASCOM drivers for the camera's. I tried that and BIN...

Re: DSLR - display captured image in color?

So I figured out why the F12 process didn't work, my capture was set to 2x2 bin. When I changed it to 1x1 I was able to use the F12 process to change it to color display. But that raises another question, I went to Settings -> FITS/CPA and DSLR, the DSLR tab and selected the options to "Auto convert...

DSLR - display captured image in color?

I'm feeling pretty stupid right now. I'm testing Prism with my Canon 70D and I cannot get the captured image to display in prizm in anything but black and white. Is there a way to tell Prism to show me what the image looks like in color? (I tried hitting F12 but nothing I select works I just get ano...

Re: Custom Horizon setup instructions?

Here is one way of doing this that I just figured out. Get the phone app Observer Pro (it costs a few bucks and has been more than worth it over the years for me, lets me think of targets in strange places) Anyway, get that app and setup your site in there, an map your sight's horizon in the app (th...

Oh I'm so glad I found this thread!!! I really need to search harder before posting other threads... I have a quick question. I have an iphone app called "Observer Pro", one of the features of this app is that you can setup an observing site, then use your phone's camera to follow your local horizon...

How to build your custom horizon :) (sorry I made a separate thread for this already before I saw this thread for suggestions) edit: I found a way to do this easily using a 3rd party iphone app, thread here and I posted instructions: http://www.prism-astro.com/forum_us/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=386&p=131...

Custom Horizon setup instructions?

Hello, I was looking through the manual but I could not find instructions on how to build the file that tells Prism what my horizon is at a given location. (I'm a mobile imager and need to use the site database to change locations when I move, hence my GPS device question in another thread). Can som...

Re: Setting up a local copy of Astrometry.net

Prism gave me an error that said something like "This is a Prism V11 feature" (Sorry this is from memory, I will edit tonight when I get home with the exact message). The other platesolving methods work fine, it's just when I try and ask it to use the Local install of astrometry.

Re: Add my location via GPS?

I am sorry to dig up my old thread but I'm back after having purchased Advanced. Re: First Light with Prism

Thank you. I just had to wipe my laptop and re-install everything, so I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I figured now was a good time to make sure it would still work before I buy.

Thanks again!

Re: First Light with Prism

I have something a bit selfish to ask. Unfortunate my trial period was mostly me sorting out equipment setup issues, laptop display issues, and just plain crappy weather. Do you ever offer any 1-2 week trial extensions? I’m seriously considering purchasing prism but the cost and doubts about if I so...

Re: Add my location via GPS?

I have a GPS "dongle" type device that plugs into my laptop via USB. I can use it with EQMOD and it will read the GPS coordinates and update my mount location. I was hoping this might be possible for prism.

Thank you all, the fix in Windows 8 is slightly different but can be found in same way Right click on desktop and go to screen resolution, then click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller" Check the box that says "Let me choose scaling level for all my displays" then select the "Smaller - ...

Re: Merge Image into Sky Chart

I uploaded some of the raw FITS files to my dropbox, link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9za5kic1fqfjzgb/AABXqwV4k1QjT2xXZSvpxfO6a?dl=0 There is one I called "solved" and the others are just RAW fits. I'm also having an issue with batch processing for plate solving. Each one of these will solve on it's...

Merge Image into Sky Chart

I'm trying to find more information on how I can merge my images into the sky chart, but do so in a way where the image aligns with the scale and orientation of the skychart. I have a raw FITS LUM image, I plate solved it, and when I selected it for merge, it did not align with the sky chart at all ...

Re: This guiding any good?

Ron, I am also a PHD2 guy and my hyper-tuned Orion Atlas with the PPEC algorithm in PHD2 can get me to around 1.2 or better total RMS. I was wondering if you were able to solve these issues? I did have one thought, the line where it's saying it requested a move and it was too small. Looks like it's ...

First Light with Prism

Last night I got the Prism trial working. I think my biggest issue is that I was over-thinking some of the setup and that led me to clicking on things I should not have been, which in turn just caused me more issues. One example of that would be in the Telescope setup under guiding there is a check ...

Getting my Minimized windows back?

How do I get the windows back after I click on the "minimize window" button at the bottom of the screen? So my imaging laptop is a Windows 8 machine, with the service packs etc. (it's up to date). I noticed that if I use the ALT+TAB method I can see that the windows are "there" but I cannot get them...

Search for comets by current magnitude?

I'd like to try o observe a comet (never have yet), how can I search for a good target given my location, and the current magnitude of comets I could potentially slew to? I followed this but when I try to plate solve an image I get "Fatal error while searching for field RA/DEC coordinates: Unable to find GSC files. []

But if you look at the search window behind the error it dispays that it searched 7/25281. Its almost like the zip I downloaded is missing files??

[Added to List]Add my location via GPS?

Hi, I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I just got the trial not to long ago and it's been cloudy till last night and tonight. I started to play around with Prism just a little last night, enough to connect the hardware. Tonight I'd like to try and get some test images if possible. I have been loo...
