I'd like to try o observe a comet (never have yet), how can I search for a good target given my location, and the current magnitude of comets I could potentially slew to?

I should have added that I did go into the options and used the sorting options, but I take it there's no way to get a list, instead of updating the skymap?

Hello

Please have a look on link http://www.aerith.net/
This page is maintained by Prof. Seiichi Yoshida.

if you see carefully, you will get list of bright comets at your location (north/south) as well as their predicted light curves.

Again you may point telescope using prism, by clicking desire comet at skychart.

Please keep in mind that comet magnitudes are so unpredictable and not like stars, so prism or any other software may not tell about it precisely.
