Hi, I am trying to batch register and I come up with this error. To my untrained eye my tracking looks good. If not then it is a tracking issue?
Thank you, John.

Hi John,
The stars in your image look a little odd to me. Were you having tracking issues that run? Any issues with Focus or dew buildup that night? Anything else happen that could have been unusual, maybe stiff winds ?

How would I measure the stars? Is that covered in one of your videos? If so direct me so you don't have to explain here. If the focus is bad would that give me the error message shown?

that would be a great topic for a short tutorial, i will work on it. In the meantime, just right click on a star and choose the top option. please post a screenshort of the popup you are presented with

Hey John,
I was looking at the screenshot and wanted to pass along some things I learned at one of the hangout sessions. If you look at the right side of that window you will see some Fwhm numbers and an L/H %.
Full width half max is basically how focused the closer to 0/1 the better. Your numbers are around 12-13. That tells me that you were actually a bit out of focus.
The L/H % is a measure of the star elongation or how round it is. The lower the % the more round (better tracking). So your % is fairly low so your tracking doesn’t appear to be that bad.
So my uneducated wild guess here I could very well be wrong about everything I am saying here so grain of salt. I’m wondering if your focus changed over time enough to throw off the process?
Can you measure stars from a few more subs?

I did try on some other stars I will try more on several more subs. Maybe this is why I have trouble batch registering pictures because they are too out of focus with each other?

Here is another example. My numbers are not good. I will have to work on focusing better.

As part of the stacking and registration process you can set limits on these two numbers and it will automatically reject frames that are too far out.
I think this might be covered in Hamza’s YouTube tutorial I’ll have to look when I get a chance.

I think you should join us live John, this a great opportunity to learn. The pre-processing process limits the frames to a give threshold, you set, for elongation and size.
